Summary:
Vehicles need electrical power to crank the engine and to cater all the electrical loads in the system with or without the vehicle running. All the vehicles fitted with battery (mostly 12v) for this purpose and alternator is the energy source in the system which converts the mechanical energy into electrical energy. The voltage regulator in the alternator is responsible for maintaining the battery voltage constant irrespective of the vehicle load and speed condition. Traditional alternator voltage regulator has lot of limitation, which can be easily overcome by using programmable one. The advancement in the invehicle network (viz CAN, LIN) and the microcontroller make this concept realistic for practical implementation. With the help of intelligent battery sensor, the power management software ensures optimum voltage level at all condition
