- Summary:
- Determination of hotspots on headlamps is a major concern for automotive parts providers, since it is necessary to guarantee that the material will resist such heat constraints. Radiation is a key-player on this class of problem and must be accounted for, in such a way that if focal points are positioned on specific parts of the headlamp, they may damage the structure. Federal-Mogul, a major automotive parts provider, contacted ESSS to conduct a heat transfer analysis and to determine hotspots on a motorcycle headlamp. Results show that the maximum temperature is below the material limit and have been compared against experimental data provided by Federal Mogul
