Summary:
The increase of ecological conscience and the shortage oil production enable the development of new energy sources and with that, new uses for less pollutant existing fuels. Considering the fact that in Brazil there is abundance of natural gas and its low emissions impact at the environment, the use of the Dual-Fuel, natural gas and diesel, shows itself an excellent research field. Using the know-how acquired by developing Multi-Fuel systems, the concept could be further developed proving to be economically viable. This paper aims to present the developed concept of DG-Flex System and the impact of using two fuels, diesel and gas, to generate the combustion energy at "in line pump" engines. The system maintains engine's original features, with addition of electrical sensors and an electronic management system. The system works simultaneously with diesel and gas fuels in different proportions, assuring to the driver the same vehicle power and torque. The gas is injected together with the intake air, and the diesel injection is used as the ignition for the combustion. This concept allows the system to have less impact of emission in the environment, lower fuel costs and in medium-term, helps in the to balance the energy consumption profile
