Summary:
Due to differences between Brazilian and American/European biotypes, a study was conducted to verify the influence of microphone position inside vehicle on internal noise data acquisitions. It is important to maintain a measurement setup unchanged to make future comparisons. Usually, Ford Brazil tests vehicles according to Ford US procedures. The Ford US instrumentation setup for measuring vehicle internal noise uses a microphone on the position of the driver outer ear, but the seat position does not fit Brazilian biotype and could cause unsafe drive conditions for test controllers during data acquisition. This work shows the differences between measurements when microphone spatial position inside vehicle cockpit is changed
