Summary:
The globalization and the technologies have changed the auto industry segment into hyper-competition scenery, where companies search besides quality and reliability the reduction of development cycle.The manufacturing process of car body is the major responsible for time consumption, labor and investment, so that one of the segment's target is making the new requirements be feasible with current assets. One of the bottlenecks is the solution of problems using computational simulations during design phase, so the result's accuracy would become even more decisive. The car body is composed of several stamped parts, and its design requires series of parallel activities, and one of the fundamental information is the force needed to form the part, which current process doesn't provide the desired accuracy.The numeric methods associated to material modeling has been recommended by the explored literature. Even with hardware's development, there is still processing time limitation. In this paper, the goal is to compare element's performance emphasizing shell elements, concentrating in Belytschko-Lin-Tsay, Hughes Liu, Belytschko-Wong-Chiang in order to identify which one of them provide a better fit between theory and practice.The methodology to be used will be a comparison between Theoretical forces, obtained by FEM and True forces. This study will lead us to identify which FEM formulation is more accurate and appropriate for predicting forces
