Summary:
The changeover to the use of electronically controlled fuel injection systems in motorcycle engines is rapidly progressing. The fuel injector is indispensable for controlling the mixture ratio of the fuel supplied to the engine. To design a compact and high performance fuel injector, electromagnetic field simulation was used. Lots of phenomena occurring in the injector has been considered to make the simulation accurate. As a result of the simulation, the response of the injector could be estimated accurately. Using the simulation, the geometry of the magnetic path was optimized and a new injector was developed, which is more compact and has higher performance. Also by using simulation, the variation of trial products was reduced and thus the development period and cost were reduced
