Summary:
A Power Trunk Lid (PTL) of a passenger vehicle has been gradually applied by automotive manufacturers in order to provide more convenience for drivers and passengers. In the beginning of designing the PTL system the suitable computer simulation is able to present a useful visualization for designers. During the development process of the PTL system, a graphical user interface (GUI) has been developed to implement dynamics simulation and execute operation sequence by means of Matlab/Simulink model. This paper about GUI program development of the PTL system mainly includes two parts: the first one is to determine the geometrical relation of the PTL components and construct the dynamic model of the PTL mechanism; the second part is to utilize the control algorithm and simulate the operation of opening and closing process, which is used to provide smooth movement for PTL operation. The simulation results in the developed GUI program can diagrammatically express the motion state of the PTL system, and the developed GUI program is of great benefit to validation of the motion control algorithm
