- Summary:
- A nonlinear finite element analysis model was established for the rubber boot of shift lever of a vehicle using software MSC.MARC. Then based on the Mooney-Rivli constitutive model of rubber materials, the method for determining the characteristic parameters of the rubber material was obtained. The parameters of the material for the finite element model were obtained from a tensile test for a standard sample. According to the data obtained, the stress and strain relationship of the rubber boot under different conditions was got through calculation based on the finite element analysis. Additionally, it was discovered that the original structure had stress concentration and touch interference. Ten optimization schemes were presented for modifying the structural parameters, and the stresses and strains under different conditions were calculated. Finally, the optimized structural parameters of the boot were determined
