- Summary:
- Virtualization or PC based testing of the ECU software is becoming predominant within the automotive industry to augment test bench verification of ECU software to reduce development costs and time to market. There are various virtualization techniques and tools that can be adopted in order to aid development and testing of ECU software; however there are challenges faced in the area of development and testing of the platform portion of the ECU software. The platform software is comprised of core software services coupled with hardware dependencies that is designed for particular software architecture. The work evaluates various techniques based on virtualization and focuses on the design of a solution for development and testing software on a virtual machine. An optimal technique needs to be adapted towards testing software developed on particular software architecture and be scalable across platforms and standardized architectures
