Summary:
Today's competitive environment in automotive industries worldwide demands high standard of Ride and Handling for customer satisfaction. As Maruti Suzuki is pioneer in manufacturing passenger car in India, and we are consistently designing and developing the vehicles to meet the customer requirements of good ride and handling parameters, thus creating Customer Delight. The vehicle structure is designed to meet requirements in terms of Ride, Handling, Safety and Durability. Integrity and functionality of the vehicle components are very important so that vehicle can sustain full service life. When the vehicle passes through bump or pothole, very high intensity forces are experienced on the body and various suspension parts. This may result in Body Cracks. CAE is extensively used to predict these body and suspension cracks in design stage. Ground tests and multi body dynamics (ADAMS) were used to collect road load profile and Forces, which served as boundary conditions for CAE analysis.Using an integrated multi body - FEM approach a new methodology has been developed wherein the effect of changes in suspension forces on the BIW Strength was studied
