- Summary:
- System-level models containing engine model, emission models, and aftertreatment device models have been developed. All thesub-models have been developed separately and come from a varietyof different sources. A new phenomenological CO model recently hasbeen coupled into the previous integrated model. The emissionmodels, including PM (particulate matter), NOx, and COare also calibrated from experimental data. Some modification hasbeen added to improve the integrated model and accept differentaftertreatment device models for future work. The objective of thiswork is to study the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) regenerationduring transient operating conditions using the integratedmodel. The integrated system-level model is used to studying thedynamic performance between engine and aftertreatment system. Inthis study, the calibrated emission models are validated attransient operating conditions. Passive and active DPFregenerations are also conducted for load and speed transients tostudy the transient effects on regeneration. The effects of exhaustmass flow rate, and temperature on pressure drop across the DPFduring regeneration are investigated
