- Summary:
- In this work the explicit finite elements method (FEM) was usedto verify the technical feasibility of a passenger car cylinderhead valve seats insertion process, under interference, at ambienttemperature. In current production process, valve seat rings nitrogenchilling is used to make rings penetration easier at the cylinderhead. The proposed valve seats insertion process eliminatesnitrogen chilling, maintaining current processes speed and forceparameters. A new valve seat external profile was used to reducestress during insertion process. With the ring chilling removal, tensions and strains on the head and rings tend to be morecritical. This simulation's main objective is to evaluate the proposedcylinder head valves seats insertion production processeffectiveness. This will allow forecasting and solving productiveprocess problems before its implementation, and foreseeing finalproduct quality. The explicit finite elements method is normally used to simulatestamping processes or crash tests. The proposed application showsthat the method can be used in other areas includingpowertrain
