- Summary:
- In order to guarantee the new emission regulations and customerrequirements, crank train components must be developed for engineoperation boundary conditions. In the last years, analyticalformulation is being replaced by flexible dynamic analysis. Thispaper shows how important it is to develop crankshafts consideringengine actual cyclic loads. Moreover, stresses and fatigue safetyfactors are evaluated as vital outputs. The consideration of the elastic matrix in the movement equationenabled the achievement of more precise results according to theactual crankshaft behavior. The procedure described in this paperis strongly recommended for new crankshafts design regarding theiractual structural behavior under engine operation condition
