- Summary:
- Environmental pollution is likewise characterized by noiseemissions. As a result, according to the European ambient noisedirective 2002/49/EG, noise pollution of inner-city areas, inparticular congested urban areas, is a major issue of the futureEuropean policy. In areas of bus stops and roofed installations, such as bus stations, there are high values of disturbing noiseemissions induced by urban bus traffic.Concerning this matter, hybrid urban buses are able to offerpromising solutions for an effective noise emissions reduction. Atthe Institut für Kraftfahrzeuge (ika), RWTH Aachen University, theproject "HYBOB," financed by the BMWi (Bundesministeriumfür Wirtschaft und Technologie), is being conducted in cooperationwith the EvoBus GmbH/Daimler Buses. The project is aiming to designand develop a highly sophisticated serial-hybrid diesel-electricpropulsion system for urban bus applications. Besides fuelconsumption reduction and lower CO2 emissions, the development andimplementation of innovative solutions for an effective noiseemissions reduction and also enhanced passenger comfort are majorNVH-related tasks of this project. Relevant NVH aspects, thedevelopment process as well as current optimization results of theongoing project are represented in this paper
