Summary:
Humans search instinctively for the body posture allowing the lowest expenditure of energy within the limits of that which is physiologically and biomechanically possible, as well as that which allows ease and efficiency in task execution [1]. This fact leads automobile seat system design teams to speak of the posture of least discomfort. Therefore, it is imperative for seat designers to know the effect of body posture on seat comfort. This paper briefly explains meaning and classification of seating comfort and various factors affecting it. The paper also studies parameters of body posture and their effect on seating comfort. For this, the study uses a new and simple method for measurement of various body posture angles. A combination of this technique and subjective evaluations has been used to analyze the seating comfort
