Summary:
In a companion paper, a novel beam theory (applicable to isotropic, laminate or sandwich beams with rectangular cross-section and with a new approach about the shear correction factor) is presented where the problem can be represented in terms of moments of the stresses, strains and displacements. The present paper demonstrate that, using this beam theory, the potential energy (and consequently, a finite element beam model) can also be derived in terms of the stress, strain and displacement moments, including, explicitly, the influence of the shear correction factor. The result is a solution precise and easy to use, which will be very helpful in a global-local analysis
