- Summary:
- The as-received continuous cast Al-Mn-Mg alloy sheet was heat treated at 420°C, cold rolled to different thickness reductions, and then annealed at 510°C for 4 hours. The evolution of microstructures and crystallographic textures in the alloy during such thermo-mechanical treatment was investigated. It was found that a strong P orientation {011}〈566〉 formed in these samples. With increase in cold rolling reduction, the recrystallized grain structure became more elongated and the strong P orientation developed. These might be attributed to the pinning of dislocations and grain boundaries by the fine precipitates formed during the pre-cold roll annealing rather than concurrent precipitation during recrystallization annealing
