- Summary:
- The process of cooling the turbocharger delivery of an engine is called charge cooling and the cooler is known as aftercooler. To study and analyze the effect of after cooling in a turbocharged diesel engine an aftercooler was designed, fabricated and installed with a turbocharged marine diesel engine.Experiments were conducted to assess the performance and emission level of the engine. From the experiments it was observed that the engine performance is improved appreciably with a reduction in the fuel consumption. The smoke emission from the engine also reduced to an appreciable level with aftercooler. Finally the conclusions were drawn from the experimental results for with and without aftercooler operation of the engine
