Summary:
Armoured tracked vehicle is basically a weapon platform and it is designed to accommodate power packs, transmission system, final drive, running gear and suspension systems etc,. As the vehicle is required to negotiate rough cross country terrain conditions, the structure will be subjected to various type of load condition. In addition to these loads, the structure is required to give adequate ballistic protection against enemy weapons. Due to increase in the capability of the modern anti amour threat and need to field the the vehicle rapidly for engaging an opponent, there is need to develop light weight hybrid armour system which can be used for both for structural as well as ballistic application. In this paper, the behavior of the hybrid amour system for structural as well as ballistic application using Finite Element Analysis for optimizing the distribution the amour to reduce the weight has been presented
