- The use of hexavalent chromium as a corrosion preventive on automobiles will be banned by EU-ELV Directive (2000/53/EC) as of July, 2007. Honda deliberated on a schedule for early response to this measure, has developed a replacement technology, and is already moving to incorporate the technology into its products. The 05 Model Year LEGEND has incorporated all of the established technologies.This report describes development of eliminating hexavalent chromium in chromate coating applied to fasteners as a typical example, and durability run evaluation by a vehicle and productoin conditions
