Summary:
This dissertation explores the role of leadership competencies in fostering organizational resilience, particularly within volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) environments. Despite the growing recognition of organizational resilience as a critical factor for long-term success, there remains a gap in understanding how specific leadership competencies influence the development of a resilient organization. Grounded in the transformational leadership framework, this study identified key competencies that are believed to contribute significantly to organizational resilience. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, the research included a quantitative survey followed by qualitative, semi-structured interviews with 30 executives from diverse organizations operating in VUCA contexts. The study aimed to specify the leadership competencies most valued by these executives in building and sustaining resilient organizations. The findings contribute to the academic discourse by offering empirical evidence on the intersection of leadership competencies and organizational resilience and provide practical insights for leaders to enhance their organizational resilience strategies. This research ultimately sought to equip leaders with actionable strategies that can be directly applied to foster a resilient organizational culture, ensuring sustained performance and competitive advantage in increasingly complex and unpredictable environments
