Summary:
--Back cover.
A collection of texts written over 50 years that deal with the racism and colorism present in Puerto Rico and America at large. Through over twenty texts spanning five decades, Luis Rafael Sánchez confronts racial hatred, from slavery and the fight for civil rights in the U.S., to the murder of George Floyd; from Nelson Mandela to Meghan Markle, in iconic essays such as "El pelo malo" (Bad hair) and "Todo sobre la nariz" (Everything about the nose). Luis Rafael Sánchez celebrates the contributions of the Black and Afrolatino community to the history and culture of the Caribbean, confronting the prejudice around race and social class that is still present in Puerto Rico and visible in its day-to-day life.
