Summary:
"During COVID-19, marae responded and adapted to rapid changes. In Toitk ngα marae, Dr Kimiora Raerino explores how ten marae in Tαmaki Makaurau faced many challenges - the waves of COVID-19 outbreaks and the Iockdowns, restrictions and illness - and were able to provide healthy food to the community, care for isolated whαnau and organise vaccination centres. They did all this while confronting the loss happening throughout Aotearoa. Through interviews with marae leaders, we see what's possible when people come together in communities. This is whakawhanaungatanga, mαramatanga, manaakitanga and aroha in practice - showing that marae always have and always will provide a safe space for us all"--Back cover.
