"Castle, State in Schuylkill, 80th year, July 23d, A.D. 1812. The company being convened at the Castle, pursuant to order of the council, where the annexed tribute of respect to our late venerable governor, was delivered by Curtis Clay, Esq. in a very masterly manner, whereupon it was resolved that the secretary be requested to have the same entered on the book of minutes--and also to have one hundred copies printed. By order, J.W. Morrell, Secretary. S."--t.p. verso.
The Colony in Schuylkill, later the State in Schuylkill, was incorporated in 1844 under the name Schuylkill Fishing Company; the Castle, its clubhouse, was at the foot of the Schuylkill River falls. The club is the origin of Fish House Punch.
