Nairne to Benjamin Franklin, 2 December 1783, telling him that he had sent "sometime ago the account of shortning wire by Lightning which I hope you have received"; MS table of contents on flyleaf in William Temple Franklin's hand; inscription on title: Dr Fra[nklin] for . . ., badly shaved; purchased from Dufief, 1801-1803, by William Duane; sold by him in 1822 to the Athenaeum of Philadelphia (20); sold in turn by it, 22 December 1885, to Historical Society.
