William Duane; sold by him in 1822 to the Athenaeum of Philadelphia (26); sold in turn by it, 22 December 1885, to the Historical Society of Pennsylvania.
Franklin wrote to Benjamin Rush, 14 February 1773, "I send you also one of Dr. Priestley's Pamphlets, containing a Number of curious Experiments on what he calls fixed Air. The Subject at present engages a good deal of Attention here, and falls in your Way, I imagine, both as a Chemist and Physician" (P 20: 72).
