- Historical Society copy Af.399.6: On 12 February 1786, Humphreys wrote Franklin, asking him to accept the enclosed poem and hoping "its moral and political tendency may in some measure apologize for its defects"; on 24 May 1786, Humphreys informed Franklin that he had forwarded "from London, a Poem by Mr Bingham, which I hope has come safe to your hands" (P 43: u897; 44: u133); inscription on title: To His Excellency Dr Franklin from his humble Servt the Author.
