Notes:
Eleven numbered articles, followed by a list of present members of the company. Officers listed are: Mathew Carey, President; Samuel Campbell, Vice-President; and George F. Hopkins, Secretary. Officers were different in 1804 (cf. Charles L. Nichols' The literary fair in the United States, in Bibliographical essays: a tribute to Wilberforce Eames (1924).
The constitution calls for an electing committee of nine members with at least one member each from Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and Baltimore.
A constitution dated December, 1802 calls for semi-annual meetings and includes ten articles only. This publication calls for annual meetings and includes an additional article stating that, at the annual meeting, each member must provide the company with a list of books he has published in the past year, along with their retail prices.
Presumably printed at Philadelphia where Carey was the leading publisher and bookseller.
