- Alden notes several states. In state A-B, the 11th line of the title is in Roman type. In state A, the sittings of the Massachusetts Superior Court for Portland are given as "Falmouth." In state B, these sittings are given as "Portland (late Falmouth)." In state C-E, the 11th line of the title is in Gothic (Black Letter) type. In state C, the title border is without scrolls at the corners and sides. In state D, the title border has scrolls at the corners and sides and p. [24] has no advertisements. In state E, the title border has scrolls and p. [24] has a bookseller's advertisement.
