Fleets pocket almanack for the year of our Lord 1797. Being the first after leap year, and twenty-first of American independence, which began July 4th, 1776. Calculated chiefly for the use of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Boston, the metropolis, being in latitude 42 deg. 23 min. north. Previous issues for 1794-96 are entitled: A Pocket almanack .. Subsequent issues for 1798-1800 are entitled: Fleets' register and pocket almanack.
As with the previous issues in the series, the almanac is evidently calculated by Nathanael Low. The eclipse notes on p. 4 are identical, except for some condensation, with those in his An astronomical diary or almanack for 1797, also published by Fleet. The calculations on the calendar pages are also identical except for some slight variations of 1 minute, and the weather predictions tend to correspond.
