- Forms the first annual report. The second was published in 1819 under title: State of the Asylum for the Relief of Persons Deprived of the Use of their Reason. Earlier progress reports had been issued in 1814 and 1816 by the Contributors to the Asylum.
- Includes "Account of patients admitted ... from fifth month 20, 1817, to second month 6, 1818," reports of the Building Committee and the treasurer, list of officers, and "Extracts from the 'Rules instituted for the management of the Asylum.'"
