In response to a review of Cobbett's "A bone to gnaw, for the Democrats." "This work marked the first use of the name Peter Porcupine by Cobbett."--Gaine.
There are two states: The first one, with "pontentate" for "potentate" on line 9 of p.18, and "you own" for "your own" on line 1 of p.21, has advertisements on the verso of p.31; in the second state, "potentate" is spelled correctly, and there are no advertisements on the verso of p.31. Gaines notes another variant, in which line 2 of p.29 begins "that that".
