Author's name taken from the title page of the "editio altera," Philadelphia, 1781. William Brown was stationed at the army hospital at Lititz, Pa., and was physician-general of the Middle Dept. of the Continental Army. The work is sometimes cited as the Lititz pharmacopoeia. The preliminary note, p. [2], is dated: Lititz, Mart. 12, 1778.
