Summary:
"Pope Francis launched the message of 'integral ecology' in 2015 with his encyclical Laudato Si', an address not only to Catholics but also to the faithful of other religions and nonbelievers--a 'joyful and dramatic reflection' on the serious environmental deterioration of our planet caused by scandalously unjust and irresponsible economic and political systems. Carlo Petrini, founder of the Slow Food movement, shares the global commitment to 'cultivate and protect' human and earthly goods, proceeding with revolutionary pragmatism towards a life in harmony with oneself, with one's community, and with nature. This volume represents another radical step towards integral ecology. It features three dialogues between Pope Francis and Carlo Petrini that took place in 2018, 2019, and 2020, around five themes: biodiversity, economy, migration, education, and community. Petrini's original writings alternate with passages from papal documents, such as the intense Apostolic Exhortation Querida Amazonia, the lively intervention (Re)thinking Europe, and the affectionate exhortations to the Laudato Si' communities, suggesting new ways of designing the economy and political systems and opening fraternal horizons to the comparison between lay and religious people and between the different cultures of the world"-- Provided by publisher.
