- Summary:
- If some historians categorize the 19th century as Britain's imperial century, and the 20th century as the American century, then the 21st century may well be understood as the Asian century. So what does this Pan-Asian ascendency mean for fashion? Fashioning the Asian Century brings together essays that address this question from a range of perspectives, including: Asian fashion designers, Asian fashion consumer behaviour, fashion shows and fashion weeks in Asia, fashion trends disseminated through Asian popular culture, and sustainability and greenwashing in Asian fashion. Together these different perspectives help diversify fashion scholarship by addressing the growing significance of Asia as a fashion center from creation to consumption in the 21st century.
