Summary:
Small hand-typed piece of paper containing information about a program of greetings by Dr. John Huffman, Jr., and Mrs. W. Roy Rosser, Representative of Women's Work Society, Our American Heritage by Mrs. D. L. Button, a singing of "May the Good Lord Bless and Keep You" by Guests, and a benediction by Dr. Melvin Best. On the reverse are the lyrics to May the Good Lord Bless and Keep You. Date unknown, probably before 1978. Sweet Hour of Prayer handtyped card of a prayer by the King's Daughters' S. S. class. Handtyped card for "Table Grace"-- same words as prior, with note that the tune is "Sweet Hour of Prayer". Hand typed lyrics to "Getting to Know You." Handwriting on the back reads "25 Pack up [my?] T. 28 When youre [T?]" and then appears to turn into a list in shorthand, with number 13, 12, 26, and 1. [Not sure what form of shorthand, think it may be Pitman?] Hand-typed note of a poem/song called Count Your Age By Friends, by George Webster Douglas. "Louise" handwritten on back. Poster from Prudential Insurance Company of America. Front has drawing of a house surrounded by trees with poem "Bless This House," reverse has text reading "The Future Belongs to Those Who Prepare For It". Words to Bless This House by Helen Taylor, music by may Brahe. Four printed copies of the Star-Spangled Banner. Typed sheet of "A Musical Life Story," brief fictional narrative containing multiple references to songs, which are indicated by capitals and underlines. The songs in order are: Reuben and Rachel, The Old Mill Stream, Let Me Call You Sweetheart, Little Town of Bethelehem, Farmer in the Dell, Old Gray Mare, Bringing in the Sheaves, The Old Oaken Bucket, Stacked Up The Dishes (Pack Up Your Troubles), The Shade of the Old Apple Tree, Work for the Night is Coming, Annie Laurie and Juanita, Brahms Cradle Song (solo), The Little Brown Church in the Vale, Comin' Thru' the Rye, Love's Old Sweet Song, Little Annie Rooney is my Sweetheart, I Want a Girl Just Like The Girl, In The Good Old Summer Time, Home on the Range, When You And I Were Young, Maggie. It then says "Solo: A Perfect Day" and "Taps". Hand-typed stapled sheets of song lyrics with hand-written annotations. The songs are: Hail, Hail, The Gangs All Here, with a note reading "B," Strawberry Blonde Waltz, with a note reading "B fl." and "67 [Gau?] The Band Played On," Smiles, with notes reading "9cf" and "F fl.", Put Your Arms Around Me Honey, You Are My Sunshine, Heart of my Heart with an asterisk, I've Been Workin' On The Railroad, Daisy, Daisy, God Bless America, with a note reading "9 z f", Four Leaf Clover, School Days, In a Shanty in Old Shanty Town, Put on Your Old Gray Bonnet, When Irish Eyes are Smiling with a note reading "9c G," Let Me Call You Sweetheart with notes reading "9c E 184 RD", In The Good old Summertime, I Want A Girl, Toot, Toot, Tootsie, He's Got The Whole World, On Top of Old Smokey, If You Knew Susie, Its a Grand Old Flag, That Old Gang of Mine, Swanee, Darktown Strutters Ball, For Me And My Gal (with a note reading 179 9zD), By The Light of the Moon, For He's a Jolly Good Fellow, Let The Rest of the World Go By, Music Goes Round & Round, Margie, Alexander's Ragtime Band, Moonlight Bay, Ain't She Sweet, Five Foot Two, Eyes of Blue, It's a Lovely Day, My Mammy, Pennies From Heaven, Memories, America, Goodnight Sweetheart, Perfect Day. On the back is a note reading "9zF God Bless America". Date unknown, at the earliest 1948 (four leaf clover).
