Summary:
Every nation dreams of becoming a great power. One nation that has made multiple attempts and suffered an equal number of defeats in pursuit of this dream for nearly five hundred years is Russia. With the idea that a large territory would make it a great power, Russia grew in power on a barren land, expanded to Central Asia and Siberia, and finally reached the status of a great power in the 18th century.
