- Axel Honneth says there are three issues regarding the interpretation of recognition. The first is it's difficult to explain what recognition means to those who give recognition. The next is for the recognition to be meaningful, those who give recognition should be eligible for evaluating others' abilities. Lastly, some people want recognition even for what doesn't need or has nothing to do with that recognition. Axel Honneth presents the concept of the reciprocity of recognition.
