- 《國語》凡二十一卷，記八國之“語”，其文“宏衍精潔”，對語言學、歷史學、文獻學而言都具有極重要的研究意義。本書即期望按照王國維所提倡的“二重證據法”，以“地下之新材料”檢驗補充“紙上之新材料”。將出土文獻這類新材料與傳統的校勘考訂方法相結合以校訂、解讀《國語》文本。本書校釋了幾十餘例《國語》字詞，文中還對學界以往利用出土文獻校讀《國語》的二十餘例可信意見予以補充說明。在校勘文本的基礎上，本書搜集、整理了清華簡《越公其事》、慈利楚簡《吳語》等出土文獻材料中可與《國語》對讀的語句、段落，並依據此類材料分析今本《國語》編纂與成書的過程。
