" ... Ogansaek is the third volume in a collaborative artist series featuring hanji, the paper of Korea. Working with the theme of ogansaek (violet, teal, ochre, green, and burnt orange), colors blended from the five traditional Korean colors known as obangsaek (red, white, black, blue, and yellow), we invited five Korean American artists to this project as a way to explore contemporary themes of diasporic culture and historic symbols found in East Asian philosophy. Each artist received an ogansaek color and enough hanji to produce a series of 10 inch height x 8 inch wide prints."--Publisher's website, viewed December 18, 2024
"The covers and five printed works are made with colored hanji (35 gsm) from Andong Hanji in Andong, South Korea and distributed by Paper Connection in Providence, Rhode Island. The outer spine and title slips, as well as the inner concertina spine piece, are made of lined hanji from Jangjibang in Gapyeong, South Korea. Title slips were printed by Steph Rue using a Vandercook proof press at the San Francisco Center for the Book in San Francisco, California. The interior pages were digitally printed by Stevens IS in Portland, Oregon ... The Hangeul typeface for the title is set in Moon Polaroid, designed by Yunjung Park for Tlab font. All English text is set in Europa, designed by Fabian Leuenberger for EuropaType. The Hangeul body text is set in Modern Life, designed by Woori Kim and Yunjung Park for Tlab font. The Chinese text is set in Han Sans CJK Traditional Chinese, designed by Joo-Yeon Kang, Paul D. Hunt, Ryoko Nishizuka, Sandoll Communications, and Soo-Young Jang for Adobe Originals."--Colophon.
