Summary:

Memoirs of a Jew (Trnava, 1896-Israel, 1985) who was deported in April 1942 from Slovakia - together with her husband, her parents, and some of her sisters - to Auschwitz. After three months of hard labor she was sent to work as a clerk in the political division of the SS administration of Auschwitz, the department which also controlled a large part of the Nazi camps in Silesia. Her work enabled her to closely follow aspects of the Nazi extermination and forced labor systems and testify about them at the Eichmann trial. After the evacuation of Auschwitz she was transferred to Ravensbrück; from there she was taken on a death march to the camp Neustadt-Glewe, where she was liberated by the Soviets in May 1945. None of her family survived the war. After the war, Pollak returned to Trnava and eventually emigrated to Israel.
