Summary:
One of the fruits of the Enlightenment is the recognition that there is more than one way to flourish. People rightly value different sorts of lives. An overarching aim of education should be to equip students to identity and pursue lives they consider good. Each student should acquire the capacity to frame her own conception of a good life - to recognise opportunities and obstacles, identify real life alternatives and assess their value, imaginatively entertain the possibility of adopting certain goods as her own, and appreciate and respect the rights of others to do likewise. This edited volume examines this important topic.
