- Summary:
- "The Encyclopedia of the Anthropocene articulates the biogeophysical knowledge of the Anthropocene, as well as the socio-political knowledge. The concept of he Anthropocene - as a new geological epoch characterized by a lasting change in the conditions of habitability of the Earth for all living things, and especially for human life in society - structures the Encyclopedia of the Anthropocene. The Encyclopedia outlines how the paradigm of rupture gives meaning to current biogeophysical research. Considering the Anthropocene as a conceptual tool at the crossroads of several disciplinary fields - geology and stratigraphy, of course; earth system sciences; but also various disciplinary fields of the humanities- this Encyclopedia creates a new global narrative, both social, political, anthropological, and cultural. With more than 1500 entries, the encyclopedia defines new orientations for numerous academic disciplines based on the radical novelty of entering a new geological epoch. This is the go to resource for academics from any discipline confronted with the rupture marked by the Anthropocene"-- Springer Nature Link
