Summary:
Economic empowerment of tribal communities has gained critical significance in recent years due to several challenges faced by these communities. Income from the forest sector is stagnant due to factors including land fragmentations, climate change, new forest laws, and major dependency on forests. This situation has further worsened due to migration because the tribal community doesn't get paid a decent wage, and the standard of living is decreasing. This was the situation being faced by the members of the Radhe Shayam Self Helf Group who reside in Dang District. The members of the Radhe Shayam group used to migrate in search of a livelihood, and migration had been practiced for the last nine years. With the support of an organization working on the development of a marginalized community, Radhe Shayam established a bakery enterprise. Initially, the group faced many technical and managerial difficulties, but soon they overcame these challenges and started making a good profit. Upon establishing the business, they used their husbands' names for their identity but today they have gained their own unique identity and are known as the 'bakery sisters'.
