- Summary:
- A dispute between cable giant Charter Communications and Disney over the fees Disney imposes on cable providers to broadcast several of its networks-such as ESPN and ABC-resulted in those channels going dark for millions of cable subscribers in early September. Perhaps more interestingly, the dispute also led to Charter’s CEO declaring that the cable TV model is broken. This case examines the dispute and asks students to discuss what the tension between traditional cable providers and streaming networks bodes for the industry.
