After two elementary schools merged, the principal now faces multiple challenges. Teachers from the two schools are in conflict. Some also resist implementing a Ministry of Education critical thinking curriculum. The union is concerned about the tension reported by teachers. Parents are concerned about the quality of teaching and curriculum because of falling literacy test scores. Despite leadership training and significant past successes leading new programs, the principal faces failure and even burn-out. She is exhausted and impatient with the consultant the school board hired to advise her.
