- This case invites students to explore how digital transformation and big data analytics can improve an organization's competitive advantage. Students will be asked to examine HAND Enterprise Solutions, a global IT solutions company that is listed on a major stock exchange, with respect to its digital transformation initiatives in project cost control and employee performance evaluation. Big data analytics is utilized to uncover trends, patterns, and correlations in raw data. Students are asked to propose how examples of the non-financial data provided could be used to augment financial data to form actionable insights for the purposes mentioned above. Furthermore, in any digital initiative that involves making confidential employee information accessible to facilitate efficiency, it is important that considerations are given to risk factors like data security, data privacy, and other ethical concerns. Students will be asked to analyze various tradeoffs and other ethical issues relating to the technological adoption of big data analytical software.
