Concepts such as digital detox, which involves taking a voluntary break from technology, have started gaining momentum in tourism. In a bid to promote the digital well-being of its guests, Hotel Bellora has launched the 'Check Out Suite' project. The hotel's strategy involves using a smart technology solution to monitor the technology usage of its guests. The Check Out Suite is equipped with a smart lamp that determines the rate for the night based on the time guests spend on their screens. Digital detox is used here as a form of currency that rewards a healthy digital attitude. The purpose of this project is to encourage visitors to the hotel to unplug and reconnect with the world outside their screens.
