- IITT Solutions is a fast-growing software development firm with 5,000 employees and $1 billion in annual revenue. The firm is known for its innovativeness, employee-centric culture, and excellence in project execution. As with most software companies, the Covid-19 pandemic forced IITT solutions to shift to a work-from-home mode. Many employees in the firm contracted Covid-19. The firm's top management also believed that the work-from-home negatively impacted employee innovativeness and employee well-being.To address these issues, the firm's HR head, Ravi Kumar, designed and got approval for a firm-wide vaccination policy that mandates employees to get vaccinated by the tenth of next month, or submit weekly, Covid-19 negative test reports. Ravi believes that this policy will compel almost all employees to get vaccinated. Employee surveys indicate that most employees support speedy vaccination. However, the rollout of the vaccination policy is met by vociferous protests by a significant minority of employees. The concerns ranged from the ethical to the operational. Ravi also realizes that there might be a shortage of vaccines in the country and the firm's young workforce was unlikely to suffer serious consequences due to Covid-19 related complications.Students will be asked to discuss the pros and cons of an organization that uses its regulatory power to promote Covid-19 vaccination, primarily from an ethical and moral angle. This topic is pertinent given the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the heightened possibilities of such events in the future. This case focuses on the issues of employee autonomy, employee safety, and organizational responsibilities.
