- Summary:
- On March 15, 2021, the board of directors of Danone, the multinational food company, headquartered in Paris, France, fired longtime CEO-chairperson Emmanuel Faber after board activist investors called for his resignation based on his leadership, corporate governance, and Danone's financial performance vis-à-vis its competitive rivals. The case asks students to explore major issues in the Danone case such as CEO duality and the purpose of the company from several perspectives (stakeholder versus shareholder) considering today's highly contentious and engaging pluralistic corporate debates. The case ends with Emmanuel Faber's termination in 2021.
